I giant number five and a thunderstorm! Does anyone have any guesses?
Update 2 – May 26: Big Boss has popped up on the countdown now… looks to be MGS related for sure now.

It could be a number 5 or an ‘S’. Kojima and Suda 51’s rumored project was called ‘Project S’, and most people thought this was a remake or a sequel to one of Kojima’s earlier games: Snatcher. The storm could fit with the storyline of Snatcher as well. Whatever it is, I hope it’s for the Wii :)

CoinsThis might be for Metal Gear Solid 5. 5 for the obvious reason, cause its after Metal Gear Solid 4. The background has a thunder storm in it. Raiden, one of the metal gear solid series characters means ThunderGod in Japanese. ThunderGod…Thunderstorm.
CoinsWell, the site updated, but it just updated to another countdown of 118 hours :/ And it no longer flashes the ‘5′, it does a 3 and a 9, and also the flip of both of them. Weird, some people are saying it could be a new Zone of Enders game, but who knows at this point. I’m sure we’ll hear what it is at E3, which thankfully isn’t too far away :)
Coins…its mgs5! The 3 and the backwords 3. Kojima does that all the time to symbolize M. Like Mgs4 trailer, he kept flipping the M to a 3 and backwords 3. The thunderstorm still probably symbolizes Raiden. Raiden saved a child whoes name was Sonny (ironic I know). But listen, when he saved her…she was 9. As for the backwords 9. It could look like a P…as in Patriots. I’m probably way off, but lets face it. Its most likely right.
CoinsI think you’re onto something Code! I would definitely love another Metal Gear Solid game, and hopefully Nintendo gets some love like they did on the GameCube with Twin Snakes :)
CoinsI had read on Kotaku that someone took the script from the flash countdown and there were three countdowns and it would finally end on June 1st. The same day as the Microsoft press conference…. so i’m thinking it may be MGS4 on the 360
Coinswell it seems that the post was taken down from the Kotaku site, but i’m certain that it was June first.
Coinshmm, yeah, that could definitely be a 360 announcement if the countdowns are up June 1st. And with Final Fantasy XIII already being announced for the 360, MGS4 would be the next huge exclusive to jump platforms.
CoinsOk, they’ve updated it again with another countdown like you mentioned starfan, and they also show a picture of Big Boss from the MGS universe, so it looks like it’s definitely MGS related :) Some people are saying it’s a portable ops sequel, but others say it will be a prequel of some kind. I would definitely be on board for whatever as long as it’s not PO 2 and that it’s on the Wii :)

CoinsAs a Metal Gear fanatic…..a prequel to mgs and a sequel to portable ops with be in the same time line :P. First off, it takes place in the past for sure.No way a MGS4 sequel, because this is a young Big Boss. Big Boss is old in MGS4 so old he dies. Secondly! He looks a lot more pissed then usual. I mean, seriously, he looks so mad his out of character. I’m actually scared. Leaked scans show this exact same picture, with that of an unknown Ninja, so as to the plot…we have absolutely no idea. The ninja may look like Raiden in MGS4, but its definately not. Alot of differences, INCLUDING a difference in the color of the new ninjas eyes. As for the new letter P R E e 5/S 3. They reveal nothing. I can’t decode it, neither then anyone else apparently. And honostly, I don’t think its anywhere near Nintendo related. Theres like a 1% chance it is, but chances are..its not. :(
