Yoshi’s New Island dated for release in North America

By sneaking it in a press release, which Nintendo is good at doing, we have a release date for Yoshi’s New Island. According to this press release, Yoshi’s New Island  will be available at stores and the eShop on March 14th.

Blurb from the press release below.

Nintendo has great Nintendo 3DS games planned for early 2014 to keep the momentum going. Yoshi’s New Island launches March 14 in stores and in the Nintendo eShop. The game is being produced by Takashi Tezuka, the creative director of the original Yoshi’s Island for Super NES. Yoshi reunites with Baby Mario in a gorgeous landscape to help him to safety. Flutter jumps, ground pounds and egg throws all return, along with some new actions that use the unique features of Nintendo 3DS.

I am excited for this game, but have we seen any information for the Wii U Yoshi game? I believe it was called Yarn Yoshi

It is called Yarn Yoshi and unfortunately we have not heard anything new since it’s announcement. Keep an eye out though because with the Wii U needing to maintain momentum moving into 2014, Nintendo may announce more about the title very soon. If we are lucky, we may even find out a release date sometime soon for Yarn Yoshi!

I thought that is what it was called, I am excited for Yoshi’s New Island, I have not see too much out of it. I liked the one for The SNES I wish it would get a VC release on the Wii U. Also If I am not mistaken wasn’t there a Yoshi’s Island for the DS? I really feel like I remember seeing it somewhere.

Yoshi’s Island: Touch & Go was what it was called, if I can remember.

          • Scissorpaws

Yes, there is that one as well… but there is also a Yoshi’s Island DS. However I now have two more games to purchase, that good old game list just keeps growing…

I plan to purchase LoZ: Skyward Sword on Wednesday, since my video game store is right next to my music session building. I also want to see if they have Pokemon Gold, too…

That is cool, I wish I had a decent video game store in my area.

Besides GameStop (or any other major game retailer in your country), I’m guessing? I can definitely see where you’re coming from. GameStop is a TOTAL ripoff. I bought a DS game for $35 once, and I didn’t like it at all. When I went to return it, the employee said that he’d give me $4 for it, and if I became a member, he’d give me $5. Later, my friend suggested a nearby local game retailer, and it has everything. Literally. They have anything from the NES to the XBOX One. They even have a Virtual Boy in box! Everything there is cheap, and the service is great. We need much better local game retailer here in America, because they can be so hard to find. I’d suggest taking the time to ask around to see if anybody knows of a local game retailer in your area. You’ll be glad you did!

Yeah, Gamestop I am not too impressed with, We used to have a place like the one you described but it went out of business, There is another place kind of like it but the games are pretty unorganized.

Hmmm…maybe this year is the Year of Yoshi! (Catchy, huh?) Well, at least I can ask for this game for my b-day!

It looks like a great game, the original one for the SNES was.

Come to think of it, maybe it’s the Year of Yoda :)
