Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection has crossed two huge milestones within days of one another. Worldwide, Nintendo’s wireless gaming service has now been connected to by more than 5 million unique Nintendo DS™ owners and those gamers have racked up more than 200 million game-play sessions between them. Worldwide, nearly 65 games can be played via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The five most popular globally are Animal Crossing®: Wild World, Mario Kart® DS, Metroid® Prime Hunters as well as Pokémon® Diamond and Pokémon Pearl which launches in Europe on 27th July 2007.

The first Wii game in Europe to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service launched on 25th May 2007. Mario Strikers: Charged Football features an online multiplayer mode allowing players to battle opponents from across Europe.

Nintendo DS continues to enjoy record-breaking success across Europe, with over 11 million units sold by the end of March 2007 and it is also appealing to a wider audience than the stereotypical young male gamer. According to internal Nintendo of Europe online demographic tracking studies for the Nintendo DS, the share of females in the last 5 months has grown by 226 percent compared to the first 6 months of launch. During the same time frame, the share of people aged over 35 has increased by 107 percent.
