Level-5 surprised us today by delivering some disheartening news on the latest Professor Layton and Fantasy Life games.
Fantasy Life 2: Two Moons And The Village of God, as well as Professor Layton 7, will both be skipping the 3DS, instead heading directly to smartphones this summer in Japan, with both iOS and Android releases announced.
Fantasy Life 2 will adapt the same “12 lives” philosophy, with an added emphasis on building your own village, including a mode where you collect townspeople to populate it. Graphically, it looks very similar to the first Fantasy Life, which was released on the 3DS last year.

I am disappointed to see that Fantasy Life 2 is going to the mobile market. I really enjoyed the first one.

Yes, me too. I hope this is not what other developers begin to do as well.

Honestly, the news about Yokai Watch being released internationally makes this a non-issue for me.

Even though I’m disappointed, I have to admit, I am excited about Yokai Watch heading our way too :)
