Sirlin Games has announced that Fantasy Strike, the upcoming fighting game from Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix lead designer David Sirlin, will come to the Nintendo Switch this summer.

The game is currently in Steam Early Access, with the team rapidly deploying new features, modes, and increasing production values during development. In their most recent patch, Sirlin Games added professional voice acting and facial animation for all 10 characters. There’s also a brand new Team Battle mode, in which players choose 3 characters each to play a variety of different matchups.

Fantasy Strike was also mentioned in the recent Nindies presentation. Gameplay seems to combine typical fighting game elements with weapons, such as harnessing the power of paint or time itself to defeat enemies. In this way, there’s a strategic element to the game, as players will have to learn how to wield their skills to outmaneuver opponents by using strange and interesting weapons. The game will allow for single-player, local multiplayer and online matches.

Fantasy Strike promises a diverse cast and deceptively simple controls. In fact, Sirlin Games have designed the game with Joy-Cons in mind, hoping to create an intuitive experience for newcomers while maintaining the precise, timing-based gameplay and rich tactical depth that fighting game veterans have come to expect.

Fantasy Strike is the perfect fighting game for Switch … Detach the JoyCons, give one to a friend, and you can play a deep, strategic fighting game anywhere.

While no firm release date is available just yet, Fantasy Strike is heading to the Nintendo Switch this summer. We’ll keep you posted on more details as they are announced.
