Stockholm – October 20, 2010. A Different Game, developer of the ghost hunting software “Ghostwire” for the Nintendo DSi, sadly reports that the software’s inventor, lead engineer Åke Bergman, has gone missing. Working from home, his messages became incoherent during early summer and eventually he stopped communicating completely. Strangely enough he has continued to check in code, and occasionally update this Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/akebergman) and Twitter (http://twitter.com/akebergman ) accounts from an unknown location. Any information on Åke Bergman is appreciated, the team reports.

The series of unexpected events ending with the disappearance of Bergman has delayed the release, and the current release date is now unknown. A Different Game is now looking for a worldwide publisher for the Ghostwire game on the Nintendo DSi platform.

Tom Söderlund, creative director on the project says:

“We are concerned what might have happened to Åke, but at the same time very excited about the product. We can now successfully tune in spirits and paranormal currents and hope to use the software to locate him. The augmented reality view is amazing and simply has to be seen to be believed.”

A new website for Ghostwire is now live at http://www.ghostwiregame.com

About Ghostwire
Ghostwire is a collection- and adventure game, where you use your Nintendo DSi to communicate with ghosts. Your DSi device is used as a portal to the astral plane and helps you find and collect ghosts that exist all around you. In your quest you use real tools, such as the built-in camera and microphone, as well as abstract ones like an “EMF Tuner” for tracking down the ghosts. Once you find the spirits, you document them and find out why they haunt our world. Ultimately, you help them to find peace.

The game’s main features are:

Augmented reality technology, where ghosts are projected into the game world via the built-in camera – allows the player to “see” ghosts in the real world.

A realistic documentary theme, inspired by ghost hunting TV shows, where the border between game and reality is blurred.

A haunting mix of adventure and collection gameplay.
