The NCAA has announced they will not  renew their current contract with EA for the  NCAA Football licensing. As of now, this coming NCAA 2014 will be the last licensed college football game by EA.

According to a NCAA spokesman the reasoning has to do with constant legal battles.

“Given the current business climate and costs of litigation, we determined participating in this game is not in the best interests of the NCAA,” said the organization in a statement released today.

For years the NCAA has been making money off college players who have never seen a dime. Over the last year or two, former and current, college players have been taking the NCAA to court over the use of their likeness in video games and promotions. For this reason NCAA decided it wasn’t worth the battle anymore to continue with their EA partnership.

According to Brent McMurphy of ESPN, EA will still plan to release another college football game with a possible rebranding as “College Football.”

Now my question is what will EA do without the NCAA license? Will we be getting the Georgia Cats, or South Carolina Chickens?
