NintendoLife recently interviewed the lead game designer for Rayman Legends, Emile Morel.  Morel was able to divulge a few more details about the free online challenge mode app, which is due out at the end of April, during the interview.

The online challenge mode can be played both as a local multiplayer experience as well as single player.  The challenge mode is always played against other players online with ghosts appearing in game representing those higher up on the leaderboards.

New randomly generated challenges are presented daily and weekly.  These challenges include the Land of the Livid Dead, the Neverending Pit, the Infinite Tower, and Murfy’s Dungeon.  As players play through the regular daily and weekly challenges, new ‘extreme’ daily and weekly challenges can be unlocked.  These special ‘extreme’ challenges are single player only and will be the only challenges that can’t be played with others locally.

Despite all of the complaints that gamers had when news of the delay first broke, the Legends has benefited from it.  With the extended development time available for Rayman Legends there will be 30 additional levels and “very impressive 3D Bosses” included in the final version of the game.  The online challenge mode is due out at the end of April and the free app will be supported up until the launch of the full game.  There is no news yet on whether the online challenge mode will be a part of the final game or not.
