Nintendo and Namco Bandai are teaming up to release Mario Kart Grand Prix Arcade cabinets in Japan.  The arcade cabinets are going to be at the Japan Amusement Expo (JAEPO) 2013 and are due out this summer in Japan.  The arcade units will feature Grand Prix, Battle, “Alter Ego” Battle, and Team Co-Op game modes.  The Mario Kart arcade cabinets will have 10 redesigned courses, over 100 items, and flying karts, similar to those found in Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS.

In the Alter Ego game mode players will be able to race against the ghosts of previous racers.  In Team Co-Op mode two players will team up and rack up points against two other CPU controlled players.  During the Team Co-Op mode player can combine their karts and play as one vehicle, reminiscent of Mario Kart Double Dash, allowing one player to drive and the other to handle offense.

There is no official news of the arcade cabinets showing up in western arcades yet but their is still a possibility that the Mario Kart Grand Prix Arcade cabinet could show up in countries outside of Japan.
