Chase the Monday blues away with the knowledge that new games will be hitting an eShop near you soon! Every Thursday the European eShop is refreshed with new games and discounts, and this week sees a lot of Wii U activity, with some interesting indie games, a great N64 Virtual Console title, and some very tempting price reductions on Wii U classics.

Wii U eShop

  • Olympia Rising (PlayEveryWare, €4.99 / £4.49) – this adventure platformer features stylish pixel-based visuals, all while climbing Mount Olympus.
  • Paranautical Activity (Digerati, €9.99 / £8.99) – this first-person shooter of procedurally-generated levels features permadeath and hordes of enemies and bosses to fight, with upgrades to make things a bit easier.
  • COLOR BOMBS (RCMADIAX, €1.49/ £1.39 ) – a chain-reaction title in which you must collect a predetermined amount of bombs to complete a stage.
  • Rubik’s Cube (Cypronia, €4.99/ £4.49) – the official Rubik’s Cube game is designed to recreate the classic cube puzzle of the 80s on your console.
  • Star Sky 2 (JMJ Interactive, €4.00/ £3.60) – a follow-up to a previous Wii U title, this game is designed to be a relaxing experience, where you explore and soak in the atmosphere.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Yoshi’s Story (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99 ) – originally released on the N64 in 1998, this is the sequel to beloved platforming game, Yoshi’s Island. This time the stages are set within a pop-up storybook with pre-rendered 3D graphics.

New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console

  • Pilotwings (Nintendo, €7.99 / £7.19) – this classic flying game was originally released on the N64 in 1992 in Europe (1991 in the US) and combines different vehicles and challenges with the goal of flying your way to a surprising and epic final mission. It’s a more laud back flight sim.
