As the week draws to a close we welcome a fresh batch of games on the European eShop. This week’s theme seems to be platformers, with the likes of Sonic Mania, Chicken Wiggle and Troll and I all releasing on the Switch. Along with plenty of DLC and discounts, there’s bound to be something for everyone this week.

  • Sonic Mania (SEGA, €19.99 / £15.99) – the Blue Blur is back in this new adventure developed by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games. It’s the classic 2D Sonic of the ’90s, remixed and enhanced in a whole new way.
  • The Jackbox Party Pack (Jackbox Games, €20.99 / £18.99) – players can jump into this one using smart devices in this multiplayer game pack, including the likes of YOU DON’T KNOW JACK 2015, Fibbage XL, Drawful, Word Spud and Lie Swatter.
  • The Jackbox Party Pack 2 (Jackbox Games, €20.99 / £18.99) – this sequel to the above release includes Fibbage 2, Earwax, Bidiots, Quiplash XL and Bomb Corps.
  • Magician Lord (HAMSTER, €6.99 / £6.29) – The latest ACA Neo Geo release is one of the system’s earlier games, which draws comparisons with Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, using various characters to battle through various areas.

  • Chicken Wiggle (Atooi, €14.99 / £13.49) – from the team behind Mutant Mudds comes this story of a chicken and worm who put aside their inherent differences to work towards a common rescue goal. This feel-good platformer also contains a level editor for constructing and sharing your own levels. We were impressed in our Chicken Wiggle review.
  • SmileBASIC (SmileBoom, €9.50 / £8.00) – this app teaches aspiring game makers how to use BASIC for creating and sharing your own fun and innovative games.
  • Little Adventure on the Prairie (Infinite Madaa, €3.49 / £2.99) – this platformer features 12 levels that see you slaughtering monsters.
