The start of each week brings us the joy of learning which new games will be hitting our systems this Thursday in Europe. After a huge week last week, this week we’re treated to a more subtle affair, albeit with some great discounts and Virtual Console titles, among some new releases to tide us over in the wake of Super Smash Bros.

Check out the full list below and let us know which games will be on your download list this week.

Wii U eShop

  • Cake Ninja 3: The Legend Continues (Cypronia, €4.99 / £4.49) – technically this is the fourth game in the series, including a Christmas special, the previous entries hailing from the DS. This is basically a Nintendo-exclusive slicing game in the vein of, well, Fruit Ninja, only with cakes. You’ll want to slice as many as possible to generate a higher score.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Crash ‘n the Boys: Street Challenge (Arc System Works, €4.99 / £3.49) – this odd visit to the glory days of the NES comes from 1992. Although not released in Europe at the time, it did appear on the 3DS Virtual Console almost exactly one year ago. In this wacky sports game you play Olympic-style events, such as swimming, hurdles and roof top jumping, albeit without rules or regulations. For example, the swimming event is more a test of endurance, where your goal is to drown your competitor. Note: this is the US version of the game.
  • S.C.A.T. (Natsume, €4.99 / £3.49) – another random NES title hailing from 1992 (1991 in the US), the PAL version was originally only released in the UK.  S.C.A.T (or Special Cybernetic Attack Team) is a science fiction, side-view shoot-’em-up. It’s a fast-paced game with various weapon power-ups and co-op mode. Note: this is the US version of the game.
  • Shadow of the Ninja (Natsume, €4.99 / £3.49) – Natsume strikes again, this time with a 1991 NES title, originally called Blue Shadow in Europe. It’s touted as a futuristic sidescrolling ninja-action title. You play as one of a pair of ninjas (or both in co-op) who weild katanas and shurikens as they run, crouch, jump and basically fight their way through 5 levels with 16 stages. Note: this is the US version of the game.
