As another week dawns it’s time to look ahead at the upcoming eShop releases for Europe. This week we see some great platforming games plus some classic titles re-released on the Virtual console, along with the usual slew of discounts to tempt you to try something new.

Wii U eShop

  • Super Meat Boy (Blitworks, €11.20 / £10.40 until 26th May, normally €14.00 / £13.00) – a brutally difficult platformer where timing and control are everything, this one finally makes it to the Wii U after various other platforms have seen releases since 2010.
  • Color Symphony 2 (Remimory, €9.99 / £7.99) – this puzzle platformer comes from the PC originally and uses color changing levels to add and remove platforms and obstacles, like a slower-paced Runbow.
  • PIXEL SLIME U (RCMADIAX, €2.99 / £2.69) – a budget title using a single button for jumping and dodging obstacles. You play as a green blob who moves automatically to chase the highest score in 40 levels.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Mario Strikers Charged Football (Nintendo, €19.99 / £17.99) – this 2007 Wii game is the Mario Kart equivalent for soccer, incorporating typical Mario craziness with solid arcade gameplay.

  • LEGO MARVEL’S Avengers: All-New, All-Different Doctor Strange Pack (WB Games, €2.99/ £2.50)

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars (Konami, €7.99 / £7.19) – this SNES game was originally released in 1992 as Super Probotector: Alien Rebels, this is the US version with plenty of manic run and gun action.
