It’s time to check out the latest lineup of games ready for downloading on the Nintendo eShop. This week sees plenty of great new releases, including the latest Fire Emblem game to grace the 3DS, a demo for the upcoming Disgaea 5 strategy RPG for the Switch, and the psychedelic Thumper, also for the Switch.

Nintendo Switch eShop

  • Thumper (Drool LLC, €19.99 / £15.99) – this is a rhythm game with a psychedelic difference, since you play a space beetle confronting a maniacal giant head from the future. The pumping soundtrack and sharp difficulty level make this an enticing offering.
  • Galaxy Fight: Universal Warriors (HAMSTER, €6.99 / £6.29) – this 1995 fighting game is set in outer space, with eight warriors thrown into a destroyed world. It comes with several add-ons and customisation options.

Nintendo Switch Retail Demo

  • Disgaea 5 Complete (NIS America, free) – this is an enormous and quirky strategy RPG, with a revenge theme. This release contains all DLC from the original release, and we’ll have a review with you soon. With the full game releasing on May 25, check out the demo in the meantime.

3DS Retail Download

  • Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (Nintendo, €44.99 / £39.99) – this is the third major Fire Emblem entry for the 3DS, and potentially the last. It’s a refreshing take on the series, harking back to a 1992 Famicom game. This reimagining of the original title incorporates third-person dungeon crawling and some first-person sections, in addition to the usual top-down strategic RPG action.   • Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Season Pass (Nintendo, €44.99 / £39.99, twenty-two pieces of content) – The Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Season Pass includes all five DLC packs as they release. By purchasing the Season Pass, fans who want to receive all DLC will save more than 30 percent compared to purchasing all 22 pieces of content individually.
