PAX East has become a huge event and for the first time ever in PAX East history the video game giant, Nintendo, will not be in attendance.  In a statement from Nintendo to Polygon, Nintendo broke the news that they would not be attending this year’s event saying,

“Interacting directly with our fans and letting them play our games firsthand is a key component of our approach. That doesn’t include PAX East this year, but we will offer our fans a variety of opportunities to get their hands on Nintendo products in 2014. Keep an eye on our social media pages for more information about where we’ll be and what you can play.”

We’re not completely sure why they would skip such a popular event and give up a chance to let gamers try out their hardware, the Wii U especially.  Nintendo sounds like they have other plans throughout 2014 but skipping PAX East is a missed opportunity.
