An interesting tidbit of news for your weekend reading. According to a new Radiology study, it appears that MS patients can benefit from using the Wii’s Balance Board.

The study showed that brain connections were improved in patients with multiple sclerosis (commonly referred to as simply MS) through use of the Balance Board, improving overall balance and reducing risk of falling.

Researchers scanned the brains of 27 patients over a 12-week study involving use of the Balance Board. The changes over the course of the study correlate with improvements in balance, with the team suggesting new connections are possible – all thanks to the humble board.

So it seems that the Wii’s Balance Board, which was previously attributed to fitness and keeping active, may have even more benefits for us. Have you been using your board lately?
