With the weekend approaching, we’re ready for some serious game time! We’ve been playing a wide variety of games this week, from the up-and-coming ARMS for the Nintendo Switch, to Picross puzzles on the 3DS, and some Nintendo mobile gaming thrown in for good measure. Check out our playlist below for some gaming inspiration, and let us know what’s on your gaming agenda this week.

  • Picross E4 (3DS): I have a folder full of Picross games on my 3DS. However I noticed I was missing the 4th title in the Picross E series so I quickly purchased that and have been playing for days. It’s a great way to pass the time!

  • ARMS (Nintendo Switch): Been spending a lot of time with Nintendo’s newest IP, and the game is a lot of fun. If you want to know my complete thoughts on the game, be sure to check out my ARMS review!

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo Switch): Been playing more of this lately and I also have 3 stars on the Mirror cups.  The graphics look great in docked mode but I find myself playing more of this in handheld mode while watching TV :)

  • Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (Nintendo Switch): I knew waiting a few months until this would finally hit the Switch was well worth it. Stylized and equally fun in many aspects, WayForward’s Shantae series continues to be a quirky, yet enjoyable ride for those who adore the Metroidvania sub-genre.

  • Cave Story+ (Nintendo Switch): Just started playing this retro-inspired platformer for a review, and really enjoying it so far.
  • Mononoke Forest (3DS): A quirky little sim game about using forest sprites to grant wishes that help the environment. Not quite sure what I think of it just yet, but I’ll have a review for you shortly, so stay tuned.
  • Super Mario Run (mobile): I’m closing in on 3000 Toads, and I finally have Luigi as a playable character. I’m up to World 3 in the main game, but mostly just playing Toad Rally a couple of times each day – love the Ghost House and Airship levels!
  • Magikarp Jump (mobile): Still wasting precious time on this game, it’s really so simple and addictive, it’s very easy to while away the time on my daily commute feeding and training my latest Magikarp.
  • Fire Emblem Fates (3DS): Still working my way through Birthright when I have time. I’m up to Chapter 22 and the campaigns are becoming more difficult!
  • Fire Emblem Heroes (mobile) – Spent a lot of time on this earlier in the week, working my way through some of the June missions, doing some training to level up my team. I also completed Chapter 5 of the story mode and unlocked a few more characters along the way – still no 5-star characters for me though :(
