Pure Nintendo

Just wanted to point something out from this podcast. In the question section of the podcast, Mat stats that the Nintendo conference later this week will probably be embargoed until next week.

DS rumors

- Nikkei spilled the beans on the potential of a future Nintendo DS
- Rumors have always been out there, but Nikkei is like the Wall Street Journal of Japan, so when they say something, you kind of listen.
- Updated version of Nintendo DS, adding a second touch screen, bigger screens SD card and mp3 support. Suggested faster Wi-Fi and alluded that Nintendo wants to have more connectivity like Safeco Field
- Also saying there’s a camera, Craig says the camera could also be used at the Wii’s i-Toy.
- Another theory from Craig: Save files off the Wii to the DS -> Wii’s storage solution. Bozon also thinks they’ll open up the SD card, like what Vicarious has been doing.
- Backward compatibility could be a problem with bigger screens

Hoffman Estates, IL - September 9, 2008 - High Voltage Software, Inc., one of the world’s largest independent developers, today officially announced that their stunning first-person action shooter, The Conduit, has been scored by famed composer Diego Stocco.

Diego Stocco’s music sound design credits include movies such as Transformers, Resident Evil: Extinction, Crank, Jumper, Lady in the Water, and videogame soundtracks for Justice League Heroes and SoulCalibur IV. His commercial credits include Nokia, Samsung, Panasonic, BMW and General Motors.

“Working with Diego was such an enjoyment,” said Michael Metz, Audio/Visual Director at High Voltage Software. “When I heard the first track he made for The Conduit, I literally got the chills, it was exactly the mood and mix of sound design and music we were looking for.”

“The Conduit unveils incredible scenarios during the game, with a richness in terms of details and action that is very inspiring for a composer,” said Stocco. “I’m very excited to be part of The Conduit; it’s the kind of project that makes me push the envelope in terms of sound creativity.”

The Conduit won several awards following its appearance and demonstration at E3 2008. IGN.com gave it three awards, including Best Shooter Game of E3 2008 (Wii), Best Graphics Technology of E3 2008 (Wii), and Best Overall Wii Game of E3 2008. What Should Be Done With E3?

Posted by james On September 3, 2008

I wish I wasn’t in Africa this summer so I could experience E3 for myself. Don’t get me wrong I loved Africa, I just want to see for my self how E3 really was. There has been some rumors floating around this week, saying that the ESA is considering changing E3 back to it original forum and opening it back up to the public. When asked about it this is what ESA had to say:

“…the ESA does not comment on rumors and speculation and will make an announcement about the details and logistics of the 2009 E3 Media & Business Summit at the appropriate time. Each element of the Summit is opened for discussion and that process is ongoing to execute a productive and efficient experience.” - ESA’s SVP for communications and research Rich Taylor

I would love to see the old, light filled, booth babe, gaming nerd full E3 again. My question is, will this change be to late to save our beloved E3, and should if be tossed aside like an ugly Christmas coat? Or should it be reopened to the masses in all it splendid glory to it once was?
