  • GDC07: Two DS Games from Suda 51

Posted March 9th @ 9:59 pm by jsharp

Well, even more announcements are trickling out from Suda 51’s keynote earlier this afternoon.  This time it’s about his plans for the DS.  Grasshopper has two titles in development for the DS:

According to the eccentric game designer, Grasshopper Manufacture will be remaking two games first released ten years ago: The Silver Case and The Silver Case Word 25.

The games are described as being text-heavy graphic adventures, but no word on a release at this time.

    GDC07: Suda 51 Making 3 Wii Games

Posted March 9th @ 9:20 pm by jsharp

Game developer, Grasshopper, is currently working on 3 games for the Wii—No More Heroes, and two other unannounced titles.  Here’s the info from IGN:

Finally, Suda 51 ended by stating that Grasshopper was currently working on three titles for the Nintendo Wii, one of which is the previously announced No More Heroes, published by Marvelous Interactive.

So what other games does Suda 51 have up his sleeves?  I guess we’ll have to wait a bit for more information.

    GDC07: flOw Almost for Wii

Posted March 9th @ 8:48 pm by jsharp

flOw is a downloadable game designed for the PS3, but it was originally in consideration for the Wii.  Developer ‘That Game Company’ was in talks with both Sony and Nintendo about the game.  They ended up going with Sony, but they expressed that they would be willing to work with Nintendo in the future:

FlOw creator Jenova Chen chimed in, saying “in the end, we are game makers and not console makers,” expressing his satisfaction working with Nintendo on other projects. That Game Company did not rule out working on the Wii in the future.

flOw looked like a cool, artistic title similar to Electroplankton—so I’m very interested to see something like it eventually come to the Wii.

Reggie has claimed another victim at this year’s GDC.  This time it was IGN Wii’s editor-in-chief Matt Casamassina.  Reggie and Matt played some Wii Sports Tennis and Reggie was the easy victor.  He sure talks the talk, and apparently he can walk the walk when it comes to Wii Sports.  Check out the full post here:

1up has a full preview of No More Heroes and even some new screens to show off the game’s unique style.  They go through the speech given by Goichi Suda and also the controls in the game.  Here’s a snippet:

“The basic slash is on the A button on the Wii Remote, and you can do a finishing slash by actually doing a slash motion with the Wii Remote, and there goes the enemy’s head,” he says. “By holding down the B button and combining that with a motion, you can do a number of cool wrestling moves.”

No More Heroes should be out sometime before the end of the year.
