IGN has posted a new direct-feed video of Super Paper Mario for Wii. It gives some more footage that we haven’t seen yet. Check it out.
GDC07: Capcom Talks Wii
Head of Capcom Production Studio 2 Keiji Inafune talked about new Wii prospects and how existing engines might be used for future titles on the Wii. He also discusses how mature games will be equally developed for all systems, including the Wii. Here’s the scoop:
Inafune mentioned that although there’s an industry trend towards photorealism in video games, he’s still interested in creating franchises with iconic mascots like Mega Man, and that Wii would be a suitable platform for such titles. According to Inafune, Capcom is planning an announcement in the near future regarding a potential new franchise, though did not state if it will pertain to Wii.
Can’t wait till they reveal more on these titles. Capcom has been silent on their Wii project(s) for too long!

GDC07: Aonuma Talks Next Zelda
Eiji Aonuma conducted his keynote shortly after Miyamoto did this afternoon. He spoke on everything Zelda from Wind Waker to Phantom Hourglass. He also comments on the future for Zelda on the Wii:
Said Aonuma: “Twilight Princess was created for the GameCube first and the Wii version came later. When we approached Twilight Princess and added the Wii compatible features, we tried to take advantage of the initial key features of the Wii, like the pointer and the motion sensor — because it was a launch title. But moving forward, as we get more used to using the Wii controllers and we get more used to developing for the Wii, you can probably expect even more deeper controls.”
I bet we will see some pretty immersive controls and gameplay by the time the next Zelda comes out. Bring it on Nintendo!

GDC07: Reggie Takes Sony’s Name
This is the coolest, funniest thing I’ve seen in awhile! This is why Reggie ROCKS! Chris Kohler from Wired blogs witnessed this just before Miyamoto’s keynote today:
Waiting for the Miyamoto keynote to start, I’m sitting three rows from the front. Close enough to see Nintendo’s resident BMOC, Reggie Fils-Aime at the front of the crowd, working it with his trademark smile and good will. He poses for pictures, he signs Wiimotes, he presses the flesh with a goodnatured ease that would make even the most seasoned politician weep with envy.
“Kick his ass and take his name!” someone shouted from a few rows behind me.
“Who?” answered Reggie in mid-autograph.
“Phil Harrison, front row!” Sure enough, there was Phil Harrison, seated dead center, front row. Looks like he could show up on time for Nintendo’s keynote, but not Sony’s.
With a grin and a chuckle, Reggie replies, “Some would say we’ve already done that.”
Touchdown. The crowd goes wild.
It’s stories like this that make me proud to be a Nintendo fanboy, especially in high times like this!

GDC07: EA, Spielberg working on Wii
EA, Steven Spielberg, and Louis Castle (from Command and Conquer fame) are all collaborating on a new project for the Wii. Here are some of the details on the project:
“I can’t really share any game details, but…[the title] is underway right now in the studio,” Young said. “The project is something Lou Castle is producing, one of the great producers in this industry, and that’s one of the products we’re building for the Wii. Very exciting and interesting.”
I’m guessing this is what EA was showing off last night at their shindig. Gonintendo and many other media outlets are still being hush-hush on the issue. Hopefully the veil will be lifted in the coming weeks after GDC. Check back for more.
