IGN Nintendo Voice Chat Ep. 15: Summary

Posted July 8th @ 11:40 am by jsharp

    Facebreaker
    - “Party version of Facebreaker,” but title is misleading (not really minigames)
    - Graphics look great - art style is impressive, moves nicely
    - Gameplay has a lot of promise also, but Matt wasn’t able to play it long
    - Shot from the sideview, still a 3D boxing game
    - Very fast, arcadey

    Skate It
    - Still not a lot of gameplay available in the version Matt + Daemon played
    - Will be a learning curve, but it’ll be a “cool” way to play a skateboarding game - Daemon
    - Programmed intuitively
    - Grinding all about timing
    - Visually not too impressive
    - Framerate needs to be up and running - lag won’t be good for the game

The American Gamer’s Bill of Rights

Posted July 5th @ 1:08 pm by jahiggin

I meant to post this yesterday, but I forgot.

As an American Gamer; you have the right to:

1 - Purchase any and all hunting games, regardless of their 100% negative reviews.

2 - Cry, whine and beg a Japanese company to release your favorite, obscure RPG in the US and when the game finally arrives, opt not to actually purchase the game; thus screwing those of us who actually want quality games to be released in various regions.

3 - Purchase a Nintendo Wii “for the family” and secretly play it each and every night after the kids go to sleep.

4 - Scream at your TV, Monitor or Handheld for any reason (or no reason at all!)

5 - Complain that Nintendo games are “unrealistic” and/or “too cartoony” whilst somehow justifying gunfights in space as “lifelike” and additionally depriving yourself of numerous quality titles.

6 - Sell your used video games and systems to Gamestop for 15% of their actual worth only to find yourself buying them back on Ebay three years later at 115% their original price.

7 - Name a character in an RPG after the male genitalia.

8 - Brag about your Goldeneye, Smash Brothers 64, or Street Fighter Turbo skills to any and all who will listen because you know you’ll most likely never have to back up your talk.

9 - Get excited about and continue to purchase games with numbers in their titles… every single year for “the new stats”.

10 - Wildly shoot at the dog in Duck Hunt.

…with liberty and justice for all.

    Game Informer Reviews

Posted June 9th @ 8:19 pm by jahiggin

Civ Revolution - 9, 9.25 - “Hands down, best strategy title to appear on consoles to date.”
    Iron Man - 3.75, 4.25
    Lego Indy - 7, 7
    Boom Blox - 8.5, 8
    We Love Golf - 6, 6.25
    Blast Works - 8, 8.25
    Final Fantasy Tactics A2 - 8.75, 9.25

Game Informer rips on games that gamers hold in high regard…

    - Chrono Trigger - “CT proves that RPG dorks will buy anything Japanese and doesn’t make a lick of sense. For the rest of us, the game is nothing but a bunch of tired genre cliches…”
    - Golden Eye - “For making FPS a console staple, we’ll admit Goldeneye is important. But so was the cotton gin, and we’re sure not going to waste our weekend playing with one of those.”
    - Super Smash Bros - “SSB is the Celebrity Fit Club of video games;: a bunch of flubby has-beens assembled together to engage in meaningless jumping around for hours on end.”

    LucasArts Talks About Layoffs

Posted June 9th @ 4:20 pm by jahiggin

“We are healthy. LEGO Indie [sic] was launched on seven platforms to positive reviews, and The Force Unleashed and Fracture are on track for this fall. We have a good slate of games and we have some good stuff going on in production. We are definitely committed to the internal studio. We remain committed to both our internal teams and working with external partners. [Websites] are definitely reading too much into the layoffs; [LucasArts] is not halting internal development.” - LucasArts spokeswoman Margaret Grohne
