Fighting games are not my forte but the new Tekken Tag Tournament 2 includes features that might just encourage me to make the purchase.  The new ‘ Mushroom Battle’ mode exclusive to the Wii U Edition of Tekken looks absolutely insane.  Not only are you playing a traditional Tekken fighting game but it also includes Mario power ups and music.  In the Mushroom Battle you can grab different Mario power ups like super mushrooms, mega mushrooms and super stars to get an advantage over opponents during the match.  The notoriously deadly purple poison mushrooms will also be making an appearance and you will want to avoid touching those because they will cause your fighter to lose some health.  In the Wii U version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 there will be Nintendo-themed costumes for your characters to wear while fighting and honestly some of the characters just look ridiculously funny in some of the outfits!  As of right now the costumes that we know will be available are Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Link, Princess Zelda, Ganon, Fox McCloud and Zero Suit Samus.  Some of the non-Mario related features of the Tekken on the Wii U are touchscreen controls on the GamePad that allow you to customize shortcuts and DLC available at launch.  The touchscreen fighting shortcuts will allow you to have easy access to your favorite fighting moves and also tap moves on screen to produce combos.  DLC will also be included at the launch of the Wii U version and include all characters and stages that are available for the PS3 and X Box versions of the game prior to Tekken’s launch on the Wii U.  While all of this is almost enough to get me to open my wallet there could possibly be even more.  Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken’s producer, has said that the people developing Tekken have “other cool things planned.”  Check out the trailer below to get a sneak peek of the new ‘Mushroom Battle’ Mode and some of the new costumes!
