The CROSS PLANE, created by Advanced Gaming Innovations LLC, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their project and it looks like a pretty novel idea.  But it looks eerily similar to something already on the market…maybe a Wii U GamePad?!

While The CROSS PLANE is different than the the Wii U GamePad because it can display HD visuals on the small 7″ screen (sans touch controls) and can be used on various gaming devices such as PC, Ouya, XBox 360, and PS3, it still looks quite similar to a Wii U GamePad.

The CROSS PLANE even touts some of the same possible advantages to using their device as Nintendo has used to sell the Wii U.

The Cross Plane started out with a simple idea that home gaming and entertainment needed a bit of a “refresh” from the norm.

Not only is The Cross Plane unique in the fact it’s the first gaming specific WVI [Wireless Video Interface], but the freedom it offers to gamers and entertainment enthusiasts of all kinds is really unmatched.

Gamers can now experience their entertainment set-up in a much more personal and intimate fashion as now you can take the fun wherever you want to be in your home.

No more waiting for a TV to free up or having to sit through another episode of some terrible TV series that your wife or roommate loves.

It is hard to say whether or not Nintendo would even pursue legal action against The CROSS PLANE or Advanced Gaming Innovations LLC.  But it is very clear that this looks like a rip off of Nintnedo’s Wii U GamePad.  Either way will be very interesting to see what is in store for The CROSS PLAY.  So far the device has not seen a ton of support on Kickstarter with only about $12,000 of the $350K goal raised so far.
