One of the most popular Wii U games is undoubtedly the innovative shooter, Splatoon. But did you know that the characters went through several iterative designs before settling on the Inklings we know and love?

Whilst it’s commonly known that Mario and friends were briefly considered as playable characters in the game, you may be surprised to learn that white bunnies were also a possibility. And although the white fur would show the colorful ink easily when shot, bunnies shooting ink just didn’t make sense overall.

The latest video in the “Did You Know Gaming?” series explores the making of Splatoon, from the first basic character and level designs to the two dancing Inklings that show up from time to time.
