Last month at PAX East Capcom revealed that developer WayForward is working on a new version of the NES title DuckTales.  This announcement received much praise throughout the gaming community and made many gamers reminisce about the original NES version of the game.

I never played the original DuckTales but I do remember the cartoon quite well and look forward to seeing what DuckTales Remastered will have to offer.  The remastered version of DuckTales will feature visual upgrades including hand-drawn and animated sprites and the original soundtracks will have a ‘modern twist’.  There have not been many details released about DuckTales Remastered since the initial announcement but Siliconera has managed to get a few more details about the game during their conversation with Capcom producer Rey Jimenez.

WayForward aims to fill in some of the story that is missing from the original NES DuckTales.  For instance the Moon Level from the original never really goes into details as to why players encounter giant rats on the moon.

“In the original NES version, you go in the UFO to find the remote control to open the area to get to the boss. You don’t really know why. The game doesn’t explain it well,”  Jimenez stated.

“In our version, before you even get to the UFO you see Fenton who is Gizmoduck and he gets kidnapped by the UFO. You’re going into the UFO to save him and find all of the parts in Gizmoduck’s suit. Once you get that all together and Fenton turns into Gizmoduck he’s going to escort you back to the area where the door was and he will blast everything out of your way and then blast the door out.”

“In the NES version, you fight a big rat and it didn’t explain why you’re fighting a rat on the moon. That’s explained in here because there are rats they’re experimenting on and you let them loose and that becomes the rat down there. Also, how does Scrooge McDuck breathes on the moon? We explain that as well,” added Jimenez.
