NeoGAF user ‘Cheesemeister’ has translated text from page 10 of  Famitsu issue number 1242 which reveals that the Wii U will be region locked.  The translated text reads “What can be played on the Wii U is restricted by a region-lock feature; software not sold in the same region cannot be played.”

What does this mean for those gamers out there who are not familiar with this?

This means that you will not be able to play games from other countries or ‘regions’, as they are referred to around the gaming community.  So don’t try ordering that obscure title from Japan and expect to be able to pop it into your Wii U here in North America because it won’t work.
