Mario Kart 8 sales are off to a promising start, despite the notable fact that the game is not due for release until May 30.

It seems that Amazon.com are no longer taking pre-orders for the 8th outing to feature our favourite plumber and his crew behind the wheels. When you go to view the game, you will be greeted by a message that reads ‘Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available.’

Maybe not surprising, as this game is expected by everyone, including Nintendo, to be one of the games that could finally boost sales of the Wii U. Whether the Amazon notice means the volume of pre-orders has been overwhelming, or if it’s simply a stock issue, is not clear.
