The weekend is here and it’s time to catch up on some serious game time. After a busy week playing the likes of Metroid: Samus Returns (still), Robonauts and LEGO Worlds, we’re ready to squeeze in some more fun with plenty of classic action like Kirby 64 and The King of Fighters 2000. So many games, so little time … check out our playlist below and let us know what’s on your gaming agenda this weekend.

Trevor

  • TrevorKirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64): Playing this for a retro review/series anniversary piece for the next issue of PNM.
  • Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS): I still need the get the amiibo pack – had it in my hand, but just can’t drop $30 for it right now.
  • Monster Hunter Stories (3DS): I’ve been having a ton of fun playing this game! I’m still fairly early in the proceedings too, so it’ll probably make next week’s playlist as well.
  • Thimbleweed Park (Switch): I wanted to have my review for this one out before the weekend, but now you can look for it on Monday. I want to make sure my enthusiasm for the genre is balanced.
  • Zed Blade (Switch): Check out my Zed Blade review to learn about this ACA release.

Alex

  • Quest of Dungeons (Switch): Playing this for a review, and so far its been an enjoyable experience. If you enjoyed the old school dungeon crawling games filled with ascii art, this more graphically impressive title might pique your interest. Be sure to stay tuned for my review to read my full thoughts on the game.

  • Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS): Still making my way through the game. I have 25 Metroids left! Enjoying the game immensely – can’t wait for Metroid Prime 4!

  • Magician Lord (Switch): My review just went up this morning. So check it out if you are curious about this platformer.

  • Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition (Switch): I recently reviewed this, and I was torn by its simple but fun mechanics, yet I found myself frustrated at its up and down difficulty. Other than that, the 80s inspired neon aesthetic is neat to look at but the sheer “fun” of throwing spears can get slightly old fast. There’s enjoyment to be had here. I just think the experience can get shallow quite fast.
  • Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS): As a huge Metroid fan, finally getting a new 2D entry in the series in my hands had me filled with a lot of emotions. A week later, I’m not wanting this feeling to end.

Heath

  • Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS): This week I’ve been playing the latest Metroid outing. I haven’t progressed far yet but I am really enjoying it.
  • Minecraft (3DS): This is fun. I’ve been building a farm and I will share more on my experiences in my upcoming review.
  • LEGO Worlds (Switch): I went from being disappointed to enjoying the game. I will get more into that in my upcoming review.
  • Pokémon Shuffle (mobile): As always I have been playing Pokémon Shuffle, and using all of my hearts in the Safari trying to catch unown.
  • Pokémon GO (mobile): Last on my list, I’ve been walking with my Magikarp trying to get enough candy to evolve.

  • Robonauts (Switch): I’m playing this for a review and really enjoying the mix of platforming, shooting and gravitational elements. Watch for my full thoughts soon!
  • The King of Fighters 2000 (Switch): I played this classic fighter earlier in the week for a review, and quite enjoyed it. It was my first time with the series, but the impressive roster and interesting mechanics were fun. Check out my The King of Fighters 2000 review for the full story.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch): I jumped into some multiplayer races this week with friends – it’s always a good time!
  • LEGO City Undercover (Switch): We made some good progress this week, reaching 77%. We revisited the museum mission. We also did some races to unlock new vehicles. And then we chased each other through Lego city in our own version of cops and robbers ;)
