Happy New Year From Purenintendo

Posted by james On December 31, 2008

2008 is coming to a close, and 2009 is right around the corner. 2008 has brought us some fantastic games: No More Heroes, Brawl, Mario Kart, just to name a few. 2009 seems to be gearing up to be just as good….or maybe better: The Conduit, Mad World, just to name a few. I hope everyone is having a good and safe new years.

Site Note: Sorry for the slow posting  today, Justin and I have been very busy. I traveled back home today, and I am safe and sound getting ready to head out for the New Years celebrations. Justin has been hard at work on making pureninendo better. One of the things is already up and live. Check out the menu bar at the top of the site, six tabs over, and you will see a little surprise. This is just one of many things we have planned for 2009. Trust me, this stuff is going to melt some faces off. Also sometime this week keep an eye out for our predictions for 2009, and see how will we did with our 2008 predictions. I think I won!

Happy New Year from the Purenintendo Staff!

Some One Trying To Shut Bob Down?

Posted by james On December 31, 2008

Poor Bob, trapped in his dungeon for 100 days or until Nintendo notices him, and now it seems like someone is trying to shut him down.

About a week ago I was contacted by a representative of a hacker-for-hire organization. They said that someone was attempting to hire them to take my site down, but they refused the job because they support me. My site is now being DDoS’d from a known commercial botnet and my servers are being scanned by another known hacker-for-hire group.

For some reason I have to blame Soney on this one. Maybe they are made that he didn’t make this great game for the PSP. Ha Ha there is my last fan boy punch for the year of 2008.

Slayer In Guitar Hero: Metallica Was No Easy Task

Posted by james On December 31, 2008

“I’m super psyched we got Slayer in there. Slayer’s got to be part of any heavy metal video game. There had been some issues with their lyrics. That gets into a whole slew of stuff like, ‘Microsoft won’t do it if this lyrical content is in there.’ There’s all this bulls@$% you have to deal with, but we stood up for Slayer, and we finally got Slayer cleared like a week ago.” – Lars Ulrich, Metallica

Dr. David Walsh Talks Game Addiction

Posted by james On December 31, 2008

I think what’s happening, not just here in the United States but in other countries as well, is that there’s some percentage of gamers — and no one quite knows what the percentage is, different surveys have put it at different percentages — but for some percentage of gamers, it seems to become an obsession. Other things in their life get neglected, sometimes even their health gets neglected, their grades start to suffer, relationships start to suffer, and so it starts to bear all the behavioral hallmarks of an addition. And so I think that’s why the term has emerged. Of course, the term itself is controversial, because there are some, particularly in academia, who say that addiction signifies something that has to do with a chemical change. A dependency to a chemical. But we do have other behaviors that are recognized as addictions, the most common example to bear would be gambling addiction. – Dr. David Walsh of the National Institute on Media and the Family
