3DS used as controller in Smash Bros. Wii U
This is an interesting little piece of information. It has been found, in the menu of the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros, that the Nintendo 3DS can be used as second, GamePad-like, controller during Super Smash Bros. Wii U. But there is a catch. Players will have to own both the Wii U and 3DS version of the game.
Also, the 3DS can be used to transfer custom fighters between the 3DS and Wii U. What do you think of the 3DS use in Super Smash Brothers?

This is great! Finally getting some true integration between the two systems!

I agree. It’s like technology has finally caught up with their vision that started with Pokemon stadium and Gamcube/Gameboy Advance

Oh, wow. I remember Sakurai mentioning there would be some connectivity between the two versions, and this is certainly it. Playing the Wii U version with a 3DS? Oh, YES! Another controller option for the Wii U is always nice.
The catch of requiring both versions to do this is a bit irksome, but yeah. It’s fine with me.
And being able to transfer custom characters (via movesets and such, I’m guessing) is also a good point, so YAY!
