Chase those Monday blues away with the knowledge that a whole host of games are hitting the eShop in Europe in a few short days. Among the gaming delights this week is super-cute platformer, Yoshi’s Woolen World, some new puzzle games, great Virtual Console titles, and plenty of discounts to boot. Wii U eShop

  • Shiftlings (Activision, €14.99 / £13.99) – this co-op platformer features two alien brothers traversing puzzle-based levels while tethered together, alternating between being inflated and fully mobile.
  • Cube Life: Island Survival (Cypronia, €6.99 / £5.39) – this block-building survival game is inspired by the Minecraft phenomenon. With a Survival mode that features exploration, forging and survival aspects and a Creative mode that lets you generate and share structures.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Dr Kawashima’s BRAIN TRAINING: How Old is Your Brain? (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) – this title was originally released on the DS in 2006 and quickly became a phenomenon that helped popularize similar games designed to exercise your mind, while having fun.
  • Kirby: Mouse Attack (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) – Known as ‘Squeak Squad’ in North America, this 2006 title gave the DS a more conventional Kirby platformer, with some touch controls thrown in for good measure.
  • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) – another 2D platformer starring the pink puff himself, this time Kirby has seven copy abilities, any two of which can be combined to form a new one. This is the only Kirby game with that feature, making it a unique experience for players.

Wii U Retail Download

  • Yoshi’s Woolly World (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) – an extremely cute platformer from Good-Feel, bringing Yoshi to life in a soft, cuddly environment made completely of yarn. There are plenty of extra features like amiibo support, co-op, and transformations, making this one of the bigger Wii U releases this year.
  • Art Academy: Atelier (Nintendo, €29.99 / £24.99 or €26.00 / £21.40 with Art Academy: SketchPad on the same Wii U system) – the first home console Art Academy title, this one is able to take advantage of the Wii U GamePad to deliver an exceptional drawing experience on its larger screen. There’s something for everyone, with lessons to help newcomers and online sharing options including YouTube uploads and Miiverse. Note: available from 26th June.
