The latest and greatest Shantae adventure from developer WayForward is now available at select retail stores, with the release of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition for the Nintendo Switch.
The game features a vibrant, magical world to explore, combining the original 2D hand-drawn animations with true HD graphics. Shantae, the spirited young half-genie, must once again defend Scuttle Town from the pirate captain and self-proclaimed Queen of the Seven Seas, Risky Boots.
The limited “Day One” edition of the game comes complete with all previously released DLC, namely ‘Pirate Queen’s Quest’, ‘Costume Pack’, and ‘Friends to the End’. It also comes with some nice physical bonuses, with a 30-track ‘Risky Beats’ CD soundtrack and 100-page art book.
In ‘Pirate Queen’s Quest’, you take on the role of the villainous (and bodacious) Risky Boots. After stealing the powerful Dynamo from Shantae’s uncle, Risky Boots must now uncover the five mysterious components needed to upgrade the machine. She’ll need to if she hopes to bend Sequin Land to her will.
In ‘Friends to the End’, Sky, Bolo, and Rottytops travel into Shantae’s nightmare, where they must find and save her from certain doom using their unique abilities.
In the ‘Costume Pack’ DLC, Shantae has some powerful new outfits at her disposal, as well as three new arcade-style adventures to shimmy through in style. You’ll be able to try your hand at sticking to the shadows as Ninja Shantae, soaking in the sun as Beach Shantae, or laying down the law as the Mighty Switch Force-inspired Officer Shantae.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero: Ultimate Edition is published by XSEED Games and is available for $39.99 in select retailers. A digital version is also available on the eShop, priced at $29.99, though it obviously won’t include those nifty bonuses.
