Should Nintendo Build a Wii Graphic Engine for 3rd Parties?
Throughout this console generation, one company has enjoyed tremendous success despite only having released 2 titles on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Behind its Unreal Engine Technology, Epic Games has helped several developers push the boundaries of their abilities by providing them with a powerful suite of tools to aid in the development process. Thanks to the success of the engine, some developers and publishers have sought to develop their own proprietary engine, like Silicon Knights and more recently EA with their latest hit Dead Space. Simulatneous, 3rd parties have struggled to deliver titles for the Nintendo Wii that deliver a presentation up to Nintendo’s own 1st party caliber. This has been a constant struggle for many console generations and now it is time to ask, should Nintendo build a Wii Graphic Engine to supply to 3rd parties to aid them in the development of premium titles for the Wii?
I can think of a few company’s that could use some help, and their name rhymes with Umesoft. Should Nintendo be the company that makes the Wii engine that everyone uses? or could it be some one else, like high voltage?
