Hey everyone!  Here are some quick notes from our developer demo of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games coming to Wii/DS this October:

  • DS Version
    • New characters: Donkey Kong and Metal Sonic
    • Event: Alpine skiing. Touch left to right to control. Strat dash and flag dash. You can also crouch when sliding down the touch screen. Good for novice and advanced players.
    • Bobsled – 2 person sled. Control 2 characters using dpad for one and buttons for other. Make them lean left and right at the same time. Work together to fill team meter to get more speed.
    • Dream Snowboard Cross – user control pad and buttons. Do tricks on jumps. Very similar to Mario Kart and get items such as red shells, and drift to get dash.
    • New Mode – Adventure Tours. Bowser and Eggman have stolen the snow spirits and melted the snow – DS version only.
  • Wii Version
    • Figure Skating – swing the Wii remote up and down to spin. Use wii remote only.
    • Use for balance, spins, jumps. Simple intuitive controls. 6 music tracks will affect difficulty and actions.
    • Ice hockey – up to 4 players. Against 4 comps or 2v2. Swing remote to shoot puck. Another difference that passes build energy like mario strikers.
    • Dream Ski Cross – level inspired by mario circuit.
    • Feature areas from past mario and sonic games.
    • Tilt controllers side to side to turn and pull up to jump and do tricks.
    • Use A button for special move. Trace special tricks in air and get speed boost when landing.
    • Also balance board compatible
