What should we expect from Nintendo’s Media Summit?
There have been many many rumors over the last couple weeks leading up to Nintendo’s Media Summit and now it’s time to look at what we should expect from Nintendo this morning. I, personally, believe we’ll hear a lot about Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M. I also think we’ll see release dates for Sin & Punishment 2, DSi XL, Monster Hunter Tri, and the Black Nintendo Wii. It’s looking less and less likely the new DS will make an appearance but you never know. Here’s what Chris Kohler from Game|Life thinks we’ll see at the show:
So what’s on tap? Certain other sites are hinting very strongly that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be the big playable demo. After everything we’ve heard about it, I’m anxious to dig in and try out some of the new levels.
And Nintendo’s also told us that we’ll be trying out the U.S. version of the Nintendo DSi XL and playing some portable games that are coming up very soon, including Wario Ware: DIY, America’s Test Kitchen, and the latest Pokemon.
We also heard a rumor that at least one interesting new DSiWare downloadable game will be shown off.
Nintendo definitely has some surprises in store for us (I’m interested to see what that DSiWare game could be). We’ll post as much as we can about the event in a live-blog and then post any assets that are released throughout the day.

I’ll tell you this much, they better AT THE VERY LEAST MENTION something about their online community. Lets face it, people are going ballistic for online games, because they are dominated the market. The online gaming community is at an all time high and people love the whole idea of online. Fight other players, test your skills on leader boards around the world, fight for the top ranks. I want Nintendo to get on that action. Now, don’t stand there telling me Nintendo has an online community on their games. They do, BUT!, everyone finds it kind of ridiculous. If Jeff wants to play with Tim online, Jeff would have to be like, whats your friend code, and Tim would just stand there for 5 minutes blurring out numbers, another 2 minutes to find out which number he got wrong, 3 minutes to actually put the number in, and another 10 minutes for Jeff to give Tim his info. That’s true for most of the Wii games (that I’m familiar with anyway, I know for a fact there are some exceptions). The Conduit had to be the biggest online game out on the Wii, guess what it had? That’s right! 16 digit friend codes =D <—sarcasm Not only that but Nintendo doesn't support online for their games by 3rd parties or their own games for that matter. Remember that feeling you had when their was a slight bit of hope Metroid Prime 3 would have wifi battles! Remember that feeling you had when you found out it never happened? I mean, am I the only one who thinks that if Mario Party or Metroid series went online they would not only be much more fun but sell a heck of a lot more? Does that not scream out Huge Sums Of Money to anyone =(? I mean really. I opened up my package of New Super Mario Brothers and I'm like, Multiplayer!? This better scream out online play, but it didn't. That's just me though, I doubt anyone out there is like, oh hey man! Time to exchange 16 digit codes…again! Also, they need to focus something on graphics. I know its a debate going on since forever, but its time they updated…seriously. That goes for their handheld's as well!
