Some of those look suspiciously like 3D environments. Please please please tell me this is exclusively a 2D game set in 3D, with only *slightly* annoying cutscenes with cutesy sidekicks.
A lot of the game is from a 2D perspective, but there are still some of those 3D platforming areas. They were definitely better than past attempts in Sonic games, but we were assured there would be a lot of classic, fast-paced Sonic gameplay.
I played the demo at least 3 times during my time at E3. What i saw the game is about 50/50. Half the level the side scrolling and the other half the straight forward view we are used to in this generation sonic games. They didn’t show us any cut scenes but we where told that they have an American team working on the dialog. That may help with the cheesiness a little.
