Japan first half sales
Sales are from January to June 2011.
- Total hardware and software sales – 191.9 billion yen, about $2.42 billion.
- Down 15% from times last year.
- 3DS sold 1.15 million
- Best selling game – Monster Hunter Portable 3rd at 968,269.
- Takes the games total to about 4.5 million since its launch last December.
- Nintendo dominated with 3.65 million pieces of software sold and had 22 games in the top-100.
These figures are not to bad considering the tragedy of the Earthquake that struck Japan earlier this year. The report figures Nintendo will have a stronger second half to the year.
“Bright points include the Nintendo 3DS’s launch and the continued good performance of popular franchises,” they wrote. “In terms of 2011 as a whole, major releases are all bunching around the second half of the year like never before, which should lead to brisk business along the lines of previous years.”
