On December 19th, the director of NES Remix, Koichi Hayashida, announced a NES Remix competition on Miiverse.  The winner of the event was going to have their score officially recorded by Nintendo.  Unfortunately, no one will have their high score recorded due to an exploit discovered in the game.

Hayashida took to Miiverse and in the comments (his comment seen below) had to break the bad news that the competition is cancelled.  It is just too bad that some gamers were cheating and had to ruin the fun for everyone else.  Hopefully Nintendo will consider running such contests in the future and don’t allow a situation like this prevent them from trying again.

Hello Everyone.

Thank you very much for participating in this event. Unfortunately, we confirmed that there is a way to exploit the challenge to achieve a faster time. In the interest of being as fair as possible, we decided to terminate the event without recognizing the fastest time.

We know that you dedicated a lot of time and effort towards achieving your fastest time possible. We sincerely apologize for this matter, particularly because the vast majority of people played fairly.

We appreciate your understanding.

Thank you.
