Before E3 kicked off in Los Angeles back in early June, Pure Nintendo had the chance to meet with LucidSound. This headphone/headset and accessory company out of California recognizes that gamers come in all ages and that a good gaming headset should reflect that.
In other words, it shouldn’t be all about overbearing bass and edgy designs. As a dad, I can see where they’re coming from. I can get my son a $25 gaming headset at the local GameStop and he’d likely be fine with that, but sometimes I need to use them, too. And when I’m used to my higher end headphones for music and for gaming that doesn’t require a mic, that drop in quality is noticeable.
This is where LucidSounds steps in, offering a range of gaming headsets that provide upgraded sound quality, functionality, and portability that will look good no matter who’s wearing them. During our demo, we tried out two models that are Switch compatible at price points for casual and serious gamers.
LS25 Esports Stereo Gaming Headset – $74.99
The first thing we noticed about the LS25 is the comfort. We obviously didn’t wear them for a prolonged gaming session, but it was clear that the oval earcups and flexible headrail are designed to make sure you won’t need to take breaks just to give your ears a rest. That flexibility also provides durability, as the headrail can be twisted and crunched without snapping.
The LS25 utilizes a handy volume control system where basically the entire outer ring of the left earcup controls the volume. It’s easy to find and adjust no matter how intense the gaming action is. The headset also comes with a removable, unidirectional boom mic for when you’d rather use the in-line mic, and attachments for both console and mobile gaming are included.
Audio Specs:

- Sound Space (Switch compatible): Passive Stereo Sound

LS41 7.1 Surround Sound Wireless Gaming Headset – $199.99
You wouldn’t expect a headset that promotes 7.1 surround sound set and wireless connectivity to be Switch compatible, but the LS41 is, offering five audio modes: Stereo, Super Stereo Front, Super Stereo Wide, Gaming Surround, Boosted Surround.
The wireless connection is provided via the included USB base station that attaches directly to your Switch dock, and LucidSound boasts that it arrives at your headset lag- and interference-free at a range of up to 30 feet. Other connection options include 3.5mm analog and 3.5mm optical.
So, what else does the extra cost get you? In addition to the quick access controls, lightweight construction and multiple mic options, you get gel-cooled oval earcups that are extremely comfortable to wear. Whether you’re in a hot environment or the gaming action is heating you up, these cups—which also include memory foam and a breathable cloth liner—will rest comfortably without sticking to your skin. And when you’re ready, the earcups can be replaced.
