The next entry in the Art Academy series is heading to the Wii U later this year, with an unspecified October date revealed at yesterday’s E3 conference.

With the working title of simply Art Academy, the game will be a download-exclusive application that teaches players the basics of drawing, as well as featuring more in-depth advanced lessons, via the GamePad. The Wii U GamePad makes a great canvas to learn, create and share with the strongest set of lessons the series has ever offered.

A previous version of Art Academy was released for the Nintendo DS in 2010, however Nintendo has stated that Art Academy on the Wii U will provide more “robust lessons” utilizing the console’s GamePad.
