2K Games Announces Sid Meier’s Pirates! Setting Sail for Wii System This Autumn

Windsor, UK – May 04, 2010 – 2K Games announced today that Sid Meier’s Pirates!™, the classic swashbuckling high-seas adventure, will set sail this Autumn for Wii. Originally developed by Firaxis Games, the Wii version is being developed by 2K China and allows would-be buccaneers to serve as captain as they raid and plunder the 17th century Caribbean, successfully navigate pirate ship battles, triumphantly dispatch opponents in clanging sword fights and woo fair maidens with the streamlined controls of the Wii Remote™ in a quest to save their family from the evil Marquis de la Montalban.

“We are big fans of the Wii and think Pirates! is the perfect game to bring to that platform,” said Sid Meier, director of creative development at Firaxis Games, and designer of the Sid Meier’s Pirates! series. “We’re sure Wii fans will enjoy the timeless adventure of being a pirate captain on the high seas as much as all of our other fans have!”

From “America’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” to the hottest new alternative rock acts to hit the airwaves, fans can look forward to further expanding their Guitar Hero® music libraries and shredding this month with tracks by Foreigner, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve Miller Band, Alpha Rev, Capra, Snow Patrol and Aerosmith.

The Beatles: Rock Band Sing-Along Premiere Tonight at Boston Pops Season Opener

Cambridge, Mass. – May 4, 2010 – Apple Corps, Ltd., MTV Games and Harmonix, the world’s leading developer of music-based games, today announced that a medley of some of The Beatles’ most iconic songs, set to visuals from The Beatles: Rock Band, will be featured as a sing-along to close each Boston Pops concert of the orchestra’s 125th season.

The Boston Pops’ 125th season kicks off tonight at Symphony Hall in Boston. The Opening Night concert, led by Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart, will celebrate the extraordinary career of Arthur Fieldler, revered Pops founder and conductor from 1930 to 1979. The concert ender will extend an interactive opportunity to the entire audience with a fully orchestrated sing-along featuring some of The Beatles’ iconic songs, synched to award-winning game graphics created by Harmonix for The Beatles: Rock Band, projected above the orchestra on the Pops’ 44-foot-wide screen. Tonight will feature a special performance from Harmonix employees, who will lead the audience in the inaugural performance of The Beatles: Rock Band Sing-Along.

Team6 announces “FlatOut” for Wii™

Today Team6 announced that they will develop a brand new version of the well known franchise “FlatOut”! Little is known from this promising title, but these will be the four game modes available:

– “Racing”: The standard FlatOut concept: Race, destroy and either finish first, or make sure you’re the last one standing (or: driving). Violent, agressive racing will take place in various locations and themes, such as the financial district, the industrial port and a dusty and an old but atmospheric town somewhere in southern-europe. Gamemode also available in splitscreen mode.

– “Trash” : An addictive, violent, Wii-targeted game mode for what’s the whole Flatout franchise about: Breaking stuff!
Use a weapon of choice (baseball bat, crowbar, lead pipe, amongst others) to totally trash the car of your opponent. Once trashed, he doesn’t want this car anymore and it’s all yours! New vehicle unlocked!
