Nintendo Download: Cave Story Makes a Momentous WiiWare Debut

By  •  DS

When it first appeared on PC screens in 2004, Cave Story captivated gamers with its mysterious plotline, imaginative characters and otherworldly sense of adventure. Now, for the first time ever, fans and newcomers can experience this extraordinary game on the Wii system. Available for download via the WiiWareservice, this version of Cave Story delivers all the action and intrigue of the original, plus added enhancements by creator Daisuke Amaya and a newly remastered soundtrack.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo DSiWare service offers five new titles for on-the-go enjoyment, including three games from the classic Game & Watch series, which Nintendo first began releasing in 1980. Experience a piece of Nintendo history as you master each title’s two modes of play, presented in all their old-school glory. Racing enthusiasts can get their high-speed fix with Drift Street International, while fans of strategy-driven action will dig the pulse-pounding thrills of Libera Wing.

Review: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

By  •  DS

Announced for the first time at GDC 2009, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks became one of the few Zelda games to be announced and released in the same year. Featuring a graphical style similar to that of 2007’s Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks showcased a new mode of transportation for Hyrule’s hero, a train. While the initial trailer for Spirit Tracks showed off quite a bit of gameplay, there were still many questions I had. Would Link still be able to travel on foot in the overworld? Will you be able to lay your own tracks in the world? Where did the tracks/train come from? Fast forward to today, and we have all our answers as I’ve spent many an hour in Link’s latest adventure. And believe me, this is one adventure you won’t want to miss!
