Nintendo Co. said Tuesday it will hold a trade show focusing on its 3DS handheld game machine in Tokyo on Sept. 13.

The Japanese videogame giant said the event, called the Nintendo Conference, will be open to industry people, analysts, investors and journalists, but not to consumers. The company didn’t disclose other details about the event.

The trade show comes after the company earlier this month drastically cut the prices of the 3DS by up to 40% after sales sagged steadily. The 3DS, released in Japan in Febraury and in the U.S. in March, is the first game machine to play 3-D games without the need for special glasses.
