Many gamers were thrilled when Nintendo announced at this year’s E3 that the Wii U would support two GamePads simultaneously.  Then we were all confounded when Nintendo did not announce a price for individual GamePads at their New York Wii U Preview Event on the 13th of this month.  In an interview with Bill Trinen, Product Marketing Manager at Nintendo of America, website 1up.com was able to get to the bottom of Nintendo’s plans.  Bill Trinen starts by saying “The reason we didn’t mention it is that, in the launch window titles, none of those are going to support dual GamePads. The launch window is all going to be single-GamePad.”  So when he says, “Our feeling is, we’re not going to sell another GamePad if you don’t have something to use it with. We’ll make that available as an additional accessory when there’s content to support it.” this whole plan is making even more sense.  Then he has a really neat piece of information to feed everyone and says, “The dual-GamePad functionality, we expect to start seeing that in games sometime next year.”  Mr. Bill Trinen doesn’t say when these games that use two GamePads will start to appear on store shelves but he does give us hope that maybe, just maybe, sometime next year we could be dual-wielding GamePads!
