In addition to our demo for Conduit 2, SEGA also gave us an in-depth demo of Sonic Colors for the Wii, which could be the best 3D Sonic game in years:

  • Sonic is the only playable character
  • Follow-up to Sonic Unleashed, utilizes similar engine
  • Set in massive amusement park in space built by Dr. Eggman
  • Eggman pulled planetoids into his park and holds them together with the power of the wisps
  • Eggman using wisps to power park, Sonic’s goal is to save the wisps
  • New power-ups in the Sonic Colors called ‘color powers’
  • 2 color powers shown, Drill and Laser
  • American writers brought in to assist in the story telling
  • Can do normal Sonic powers such as boosting, stomping and homing attacks
  • White wisps charge Sonic’s boost gauge
  • Sion wisp gives laser power. Shake Wii remote to engage
  • Yellow wisp gives drill power
  • More color powers in final version
  • Drill power gives Sonic access to many new areas
