While Nintendo had already announced their DLC plans for Breath of the Wild, during the E3 2017 spotlight presentation, we got to see the new content in action. The first DLC pack, The Master Trials, is due to release on June 30th, 2017. This first pack allows Link to return the Master Sword to its pedestal in the Lost Woods, thus unlocking the Trial of the Sword. Completing the battles that await you there will unlock the Master Sword’s true power, making it do a permanent 60 damage.
Also included in the first batch of DLC is the Hero’s Path Mode, which will show the path you have taken on your travels on the map, and this will aide you by showing what areas you haven’t fully explored yet. There are also new costumes to unlock, including Majora’s Mask, Midna’s Helmet, Zelda’s Phantom Armor from Spirit Tracks, Tingle’s outfit, and even a Korok mask, which will shake to let you know when a hidden Korok is nearby.
Master Mode adds an extra challenge to your game, where enemies will be tougher to take out, and will actively regain health if you don’t finish them off quickly.
The second batch of DLC, called The Champion’s Ballad, will be available this holiday 2017. While not much was revealed, we do know this addition to the game will explore the Champions in much greater detail. Purchasing the expansion pass for $19.99 USD will grant you access to all of the DLC as it releases.
Have you already purchased the expansion pass for Breath of the Wild yet? If you haven’t, has this trailer convinced you to do so? Voice your opinion with a comment!
