EA elaborates on the decision to change Madden’s visuals for Wii
“As we looked at Madden on the Wii, we felt that the overall visual style has been the same for a number of years. It largely looked the same as the PlayStation 2 and Xbox counterparts with a few Miis thrown in the mix. We wanted to create something that was a unique, natural fit for Madden on the Wii. To do that, this game had to offer something compelling and different from the other versions of Madden currently on the market. With this in mind, we looked at other titles and products that faced similar challenges. The one title that really stood out was [multiplayer shooter] Team Fortress 2, which was part of The Orange Box package on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC (it’s also available separately as a downloadable title). As we did research, we realized that they had similar challenges and really embraced the opportunity to create something fresh and new” – producer Dan Baker
