EA Talk Free Agency For NBA Jam
SN: Between the NBA draft, free agency and trades, there has been a lot of movement regarding rosters. EA ran fan voting for NBA Jam rosters, but a lot of that obviously doesn’t apply any more. How will that fan voting factor into all of these new rosters going forward? Will we see free agency reflected? Will we see rookies?
EA: Getting the fans to help us determine the NBA JAM rosters was very important to us because without all of the support of JAM fans out there, our game would’ve probably never seen the light of day. So we are dedicated to staying as true to the results of the fan votes as we possibly can. That being said, obviously there have been some major moves being made and we owe it to the fans to have our rosters as up to date as possible before the game goes out the door. The NBA JAM rosters will most definitely include the recent free agency moves that have been made. As far as commenting on the inclusion of any rookies, we’re going to leave that as a surprise for the fans that pick up our game on October 5th.

I hope they allow some basic roster management. It’s cool to keep the old teams in place – Penny/Shaq of yore, anyone? – but in this generation, and in this trade-happy NBA environment, you *gotta* be able to switch things around.

I agree it’s the only way to keep the game fresh. Unless they are planning on coming out with another one in the future.
