Is the Nintendo 2DS a good idea?
An interesting video by Youtube user Gammalad. Personally, I agree that the 2DS is a great idea from a marketing stand point. With children adapting to technology at such a young age, it makes sense to have a slightly less expensive, more durable console aimed towards them. If Nintendo launches a line of games targeted specifically for this demographic, I think the hand held console could see great success. Share your thoughts in the comments below!

I guess every generation needs a superfluous iteration, would you agree Mr. GameBoy Micro?

I think it’s a good idea, the news just shocked me. I think if 3d is gonna hurt children’s eyes, they should provide an alternative. Except, the 3ds already offers a switch off… It seems a little redundant, but so did the ds lite, the ds i xl, etc. Those devices didn’t have a problem selling.

Soooooo…the of switch is a bad idea? Does it really matter?

Fantastic idea. Large screen, no hinges, no 3D plays all 3DS, DS software lower price what’s not to love?

I think it’s a big risk for Nintendo. It’s not that I don’t think that children shouldn’t play video games, but that if it’s pretty much only targeted for kids 7 & younger, it’s going to be tough for Nintendo to make good sales, all at the same time they’re losing money with the Wii U. In fact, the 2DS seems like it’s making fun of the 3DS in a way. For example, the 2DS can do everything the 3DS can, except that it’s not in 3D. It’s like it doesn’t matter if the game is in 3D or not, it just depends on what kind of game it is. Nintendo has never leapt into eye-popping 3D before, and now they’re abandoning it already. If Nintendo really wants to be a threat for the XBOX One and the PS4, they’re going to have to stand out in some sort of way, and 3D is a vital element in that sort of success.

I would disagree that Nintendo is abandoning the 3D aspect, only giving an alternative to people who don’t like or use the 3D all too much and/or have an eye irritation issue with the 3D. It’s a nice thought that Nintendo is giving options and is trying to get more people into gaming. Sony and Microsoft would do the same, I would think.

Ever heard of the 3D-adjusting slider? Yes, Sony and Microsoft obviously will be putting 3D in later consoles and handhelds, but they don’t now. Nintendo can kick serious butt in this showdown with the aid of 3D.

Honestly, your first sentence in that reply sounds a bit rude.
And I kinda meant that S and M’s having options would be the same as N.
As for the slider, if it’s not there, no worry about adjusting or otherwise. No chance of that. I still stand by my opinion of Nintendo not abandoning the 3D and them giving an alternative.
Also, you’re not thinking Nintendo will stop selling 3DS/3DS XL units when the 2DS comes out, are you? Cause I don’t see Nintendo going that route. I can definitely see 2DSs and 3DSs side-by-side on the shelves.
I can see Sony’s next handheld (if they have one, that is) having the 3D-effects as the 3DS has, yes…but that may be a while, if it happens. That’s just me, though.

Why does a 2ds need 2 cameras on the back if you can’t even see it in 3d?
