Iwata: Zelda Wii Releasing Before Year’s End, Wii Vitality Sensor Event in July
In the same interview where Iwata mentioned the first details for the DS 2, he also goes on to talk about the next entry in the Zelda series for the Wii. Iwata states that the game will go on sale before the end of 2010! There were no other details released but it’s good to see that Nintendo is focusing their efforts on releasing the next Zelda sooner rather than later.
Also, there is a special conference scheduled for July (after E3, which is June 15-17) that will focus on the Wii Vitality Sensor and also software to support it. The sensor and software will be released ‘as soon as possible’ after the July event.
Looks like 2010 is shaping up to be even better with the Vitality Sensor and Zelda joining Super Mario Galaxy 2 and (hopefully) Metroid Other M!

You know that’s weird. Before a game comes out, usually at least a year before we would have a trailer. This things coming out before the end of the year and all we have is a picture…which was presented to us by accident, which means Nintendo didn’t even really have any official info it wanted to tell us. Am I the only one wondering wtf here?

Actually, the picture was officially released the week after E3 but yeah, I understand where you’re coming from. It’s possible that this means in Japan by year’s end and not necessarily the rest of the world. I keep going back to what Nintendo said at E3 2008 about not wanting to show too much when the release of a game is far off. Twilight Princess was first shown at E3 2004, then released in Nov. ’06, so I think Nintendo is wanting to not repeat that long wait period. If it really is coming by the end of the year, hopefully we’ll see more glimpses of the game at GDC or a playable demo at E3.
